News: Multi-vehicle DUI crash kills 1 on Bell Rd in Surprise

SURPRISE, AZ – A 57-year-old man died in a crash involving three vehicles that happened on a busy roadway in Surprise early Sunday morning, reports 12 News.

The incident happened at 1:56 a.m. near the intersection of West Bell Road and North Parkview Place, which is just south of Kings Wood Park.

The investigation indicates that a westbound vehicle rear-ended another westbound vehicle on Bell Road. The force of the collision caused the second vehicle to veer from the roadway and crash into a palm tree. The driver of the first vehicle also lost control and hit a palm tree after sideswiping a third vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as Daniel Duran.

Police say that the driver of the first vehicle was charged for driving under the influence after she failed a breathalyzer test.

A full investigation is underway.
