News: 3-vehicle crash kills 1, hurts 2 in NW Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A 72-year-old woman died Monday afternoon in a crash involving three vehicles at a busy intersection in northwest Phoenix, reports 12 News.

The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, which is just northeast of the American Family Fields of Phoenix.

The investigation thus far indicates that a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and collided with a northbound vehicle. A third vehicle then crashed into one of the other two vehicles.

A passenger from one of the vehicles died in the crash. Authorities identified her as Faila Butunga.

Medics transported two children from the crash to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
