News: Driver fatally collides with police vehicle near Thunderbird Village

PHOENIX, AZ – According to 12 News, a driver died after colliding with a patrol vehicle near 35th Ave and Thunderbird Rd on Thursday.

The driver hit the patrol vehicle around 9 a.m. Their vehicle then caught on fire.

Rescue crews put out the fire and pronounced the driver dead at the scene. They transported the police officer and the prisoner they were transporting to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officials have not released the victims’ names.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the incident.
