EL MIRAGE, AZ – One person was left in critical condition, and another suffered minor injuries in a pursuit-turned-crash on Thursday, 12News said.
The incident unfolded when El Mirage police noticed a car parked in an area restricted to the public and heard gunshot sounds. Police approached the vehicle, and the suspect inside drove away, prompting a pursuit.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed their car into another vehicle on Grand Avenue.
Police said the suspect sustained what appeared to be a serious gunshot wound and that the other driver sustained minor injuries.
EMS crews transported the suspect to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
Authorities shut down the southeast lanes between Thompson Ranch Road and North 113 Avenue for several hours before reopening the area at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
