News UPDATE: Phoenix officer pleads not guilty in connection to injury crash in March 

PHOENIX, AZ – A Phoenix police officer pleaded not guilty in connection with an injury crash that happened in March. 

AzFamily said the officer pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and endangerment charges before a court hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 3. 

The officer, identified as Joshua Allen Woodcock, was reportedly driving at a rate of 86 to 89 mph in a 35 mph zone when he crashed into a Honda sedan traveling at 72mph. The crash occurred near Buckeye Road and I-17 Black Canyon Access Road. 

Woodcock was left with serious, life-threatening injuries, and the two others with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The Phoenix Police reported their investigation findings to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and presented them to the grand jury in Nov. 2025. It was the grand jury that indicted Woodcock with the charges. 

Woodcock will appear in court again on January 20, 2026.
