PHOENIX, AZ – A Phoenix police officer is facing two felony charges for aggravated assault and endangerment in connection to a crash that happened in March.
A police report that was obtained by Arizona Family indicates that a police officer, later identified as Joshua Allen Woodcock, was driving at a rate of 86 to 89 mph in a 35 mph zone when he collided with a Honda sedan going 72mph near Buckeye Road and the I-17 Black Canyon Access Road .
Woodcock had reportedly tried to brake, but collided with the Honda sedan pursuing a left turn. The force of the collision caused the SUV to crash into a signal pole and barrier before overturning.
The case and its findings were brought before the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which presented them to a grand jury. The grand jury indicted Woodcock on the two felony charges.
Two drivers were left with non-life-threatening injuries, and Woodcock was left with serious injuries.
