News: Teen driver fatally collides with tree near Upland Hills

PHOENIX, AZ – A teen driver fatally struck a tree near 43rd Ave and Happy Valley Rd on Sunday, according to CBS 5.

The driver was heading south on 43rd Ave when they lost control and struck a curb before rolling over and crashing into a tree around 1:30 a.m.

Rescue crews transported the driver and their 16-year-old passenger to an area hospital, where the passenger died. The driver is in critical condition.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the incident.
