PHOENIX, AZ – One person lost their life and two others were taken to the hospital as a result of a single-car crash that occurred on Thursday, AZFamily reports.
The collision happened around 12:45 a.m. Preliminary details show that a driver of a Toyota Corolla had merged onto I-10 from the SR 51 off-ramp when they drifted into a dirt shoulder along the interstate. The driver then overcorrected across the interstate and crashed into a median wall.
One passenger was partially ejected and died from their injuries at the scene.
EMS crews took the driver and another passenger to a hospital for treatment. Their physical condition was not disclosed.
The deceased victim’s identity was not released.
Authorities shut down all westbound lanes near 24th Street for several hours to accommodate the scene clean-up process and investigation.
All lanes reopened around 5:45 a.m.
