PHOENIX, AZ – An auto repair shop was significantly damaged as a result of a fiery collision that happened on Saturday, AZFamily said.
The incident occurred before 10 p.m. A person lost control of their car while driving on 7th Avenue, which caused it to spin several times before plowing into Denver’s Car Care. The car then caught on fire, which left major damage.
Eyewitnesses helped the male driver escape, who allegedly took off. Police said they later found an injured man near the crash site, and said he was sent to a hospital. Police, however, did not confirm if this man was the driver responsible for the collision.
The auto repair shop owner, Denver Davis, was not injured, but emotionally hurt as he now has to deal with the repairs and financial and emotional hardships the crash has brought. “It’s heartwrenching,” Davis said to AZ Family. “This building is not just my business, it’s part of me, and I felt like a part of me died when I looked at this (the damage) last night. It killed me.”
Davis noted that several collisions, 10 or 12, occur each year.
Audrey Corley, who owns the neighboring Boycott Bar, has constantly spoken up about the number of serious crashes in the area, but says no action has been taken to try to reduce the number of collisions.
