DOWNTOWN PHOENIX, AZ – A male pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being struck by a blue SUV in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday.
AZFamily said the pedestrian-vehicle crash happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Eyewitnesses told the source that the male pedestrian was reportedly carrying furniture when he was struck by the vehicle.
The driver of the blue SUV then fled the scene, according to the eyewitness. Police have not confirmed this to be a hit-and-run crash and have closed off the intersection, also indicating that the piece of furniture is also blocking traffic.
During this time, drivers are being redirected off Interstate 10 near 7th Avenue and urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes as authorities work to clean up debris.
The cause of the pedestrian-vehicle crash remains under investigation.
