PHOENIX, AZ – A female pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision that took place in the Young America Homes neighborhood on Sunday.
The crash happened before 6:30 a.m. off 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road, Fox10Phoenix said.
Preliminary details show a 24-year-old man driving a BMW had crashed into a female pedestrian, aged 40, before plowing into a fence.
The 24-year-old male driver immediately fled the scene prior to first responders’ arrival. EMS crews hurried the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries. There, she later died.
Police found the hit-and-run suspect at his home with serious injuries and conducted a follow-up. First responders took the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment and said he will be booked into jail once he is medically cleared.
Police also confirmed that when they arrived at the scene of the crash, they found another vehicle, a Toyota Camry, and its driver, a woman. She was hospitalized for serious injuries, but it’s unclear whether the 24-year-old male driver struck her as well.
