News: Drug-impaired truck driver causes delays on I-17 in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A drug-impaired truck driver caused significant traffic delays on I-17 around 9:30 pm Monday, 12 news reports.

The incident occurred near Dixileta Drive. The truck driver called 911, claiming two men were trying to seize the semi-truck and unload it while he was driving.

Arizona State Troopers identified the driver as 22-year-old Jorge Veleta-Corrales of Commerce City, Colorado. After law enforcement confronted Veleta-Corrales, they found no one was trying to steal the truck.

The man was given a sobriety test and found he was high on amphetamine. Officials charged him with a DUI, and no one on the road was reported injured.

Lanes have since reopened.
