News: Driver fatally collides with police vehicle near The University of Arizona

TUCSON, AZ – A police officer died in a two-vehicle collision near N Campbell Ave and E 6th St on Sunday, according to ABC 15.

The driver ran a red light and hit a police vehicle driven by Officer Adam Buckner, 31, around 10 p.m. Buckner was responding to a call and had his emergency lights and sirens activated on his patrol car.

Bystanders and officers performed CPR on Buckner until rescue crews arrived. They transported Buckner to an area hospital, where he died.

The driver that hit Buckner suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Authorities have not pressed charges or issued citations for the incident.
