GLENDALE, AZ – A driver fatally struck pedestrians near N 49th Ave and W Peoria Ave on Thursday, according to AZ Family.
The driver hit a man and a woman as they were crossing in the middle of the street around 2:30 a.m.
Rescue crews pronounced the man dead at the scene and transported the woman to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Following the collision, the driver remained at the scene. Authorities performed a field sobriety test on the driver and determined they were not impaired during the crash.
Officials have not released the deceased victim’s name.
Crews closed down the area to clear the scene and investigate the incident. The area was reopened around 9 a.m.
