News: 2-vehicle Mesa crash kills 2, seriously injures 2

MESA, AZ – One person died, and three others were hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after an SUV and a crane truck collided in Mesa, reports Arizona’s Family 3TV.

Police say the incident happened just after 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 24 and East Williams Field Road, which is just east of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

The investigation indicates that a Mazda sedan failed to strop for a red light on Route 24 and crashed into a crane truck.

The driver of the Mazda died at the scene of the crash, and a passenger died after transport to the hospital. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.

Medics transported two other passengers from the Mazda to the hospital.

It is unclear at this time if the driver of the crane truck sustained injuries in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
