News: Truck driver struck, killed along Phoenix interstate

PHOENIX, AZ – The driver of an 18-wheeler died Friday when a vehicle struck him alongside the interstate in central Maricopa County, reports abc15 Arizona.

Police say the incident happened before 8 a.m. on the northbound side of I-17 near Happy Valley Road.

The investigation indicates that the driver of the semi-truck had pulled over on the interstate to adjust the load on his trailer. As the truck driver walked along his semi, a work truck struck him.

The driver of the 18-wheeler died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

A full investigation of the incident is underway.
