News: Wrong-way crash kills 1, hurts 3 in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Police arrested an alleged DUI driver Friday after his southbound car entered a northbound lane of traffic and hit a rideshare vehicle, reports KTAR News.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Hayden Road and Cactus Road, which is just northeast of Starfire Golf Club in Scottsdale.

The investigation indicates the man drove his 2013 Subaru Legacy southbound on the northbound side of Hayden Road and crashed into a northbound vehicle.

The collision killed 58-year-old Dawn Paugh, who was one of the three occupants in the rideshare vehicle.

Medics transported the other two occupants from the rideshare vehicle to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries. His charges include manslaughter, DUI, and wrong-way driving.

A full investigation is underway.
