News: Vehicle strikes, kills pedestrian in Laveen Village

LAVEEN VILLAGE, AZ – A 29-year-old male pedestrian died Monday morning after a car struck him on a busy roadway in central Maricopa County, reports Arizona’s Family 3 TV.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on West Southern Avenue, just east of the South Mountain Freeway, or Loop 202, in Laveen Village.

The investigation indicates that a westbound vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The victim, identified as Darrle Woody, died at the scene of the crash.

Police do not suspect impairment on the part of the driver, who remained at the scene to answer questions. A full investigation is underway.
