News Update: Woman killed, driver arrested after bus-car crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A woman, who was initially left in serious condition had died from her injuries and her driver was arrested following a crash between a car and a Valley Metro city bus Wednesday

New details from AZ Family revealed that the woman’s driver, 23-year-old Xavier Jose Manuel, was impaired while driving his SUV. He lost control of his SUV and rear-ended a city bus. The collision happened around 10 a.m. west of 35th Avenue on Thomas Road and warranted a quick response from first responders.

EMS crews transported Manuel, his passenger, and a female city bus passenger to a hospital. There, Manuel’s passenger died from her injuries. She has since been identified as 29-year-old Emily Alexis Analla.

It’s unclear what the city bus passenger’s condition is. However, officials said that she is expected to survive.

First responders also did not specify Manuel’s physical condition, but confirmed he was released from the hospital. After Manuel’s release, police arrested him and booked him into jail. He faces one count of manslaughter.

Manuel may face additional charges.
