News: Train strikes car, critically injuring senior in Surprise

SURPRISE, AZ – Medics rushed an elderly man to the hospital Saturday after a train collided with his vehicle at an intersection in Surprise, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.

Police say the incident happened around 5:20 p.m. near the intersection of West Grand Avenue and WRH Johnson Boulevard, which is just northeast of the Desert Springs Golf Course.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the car drove past the arms of the railroad gate. He then became entrapped after the train collided with his vehicle. Emergency crews extricated the man and took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
