WEST PHOENIX, AZ – A 44-year-old man died after he was struck by a car in West Phoenix on Saturday, 12News reports.
The pedestrian-vehicle collision happened after 11:30 p.m. in the area of North 48th Avenue and West Van Buren Street. Police believe Sharmarke Ismail was walking across midblock when he was hit.
Police and EMS crews responded to the scene after midnight on Sunday. Upon arrival, paramedics rushed Ismail to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police confirmed the driver stayed at the scene and did not exhibit any signs of impairment.
A full investigation into the pedestrian-vehicle collision remains underway.
