News: Semi hits 2 people on EB I-10 in Tucson, 1 dies, 1 hurt

TUCSON, AZ – A semi struck two migrants that were running across EB I-10 near Picacho Peak on late Wednesday night.

According to AZ Family, a trooper was attempting to pull over a vehicle on EB I-10 around 11 p.m. DPS reports 6 or 7 migrants got out of the vehicle and ran across EB I-10. A semi hit 2 of the people. One was pronounced dead at the crash scene and the other sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Local authorities report the semi driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended about 2 miles down the road. They are investigating the driver for DUI and drug possession.

The driver and passengers in the other vehicle have not been located.
