MESA, AZ – On Tuesday, Dec. 16, Mesa police arrested a man in connection with a fatal crash that took place on Aug. 30, according to 12News.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Val Vista Drive and Pueblo Avenue. Preliminary details show that the arrestee, 22-year-old Isaiah Torres, was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic while traveling at a high rate, according to eyewitnesses. Torres lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Marcella Manuel.
Manuel, who was two weeks shy of her 22nd birthday, died from her injuries.
Mesa police presented the case to the grand jury, and a warrant was granted for Torres’ arrest. He’s now facing a 2nd degree murder charge.
