News: Male pedestrian struck, killed near Baseline Rd

PHOENIX, AZ – A pedestrian died from injuries sustained when a vehicle struck him at an intersection in south Phoenix on Friday morning, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.

Police say the incident happened sometime before 10:11 a.m. at the intersection of 7th Avenue and West Baseline Road, which is just west of South Mountain Village.

A preliminary investigation suggests the pedestrian may have entered the roadway in front of the vehicle.

Medics transported the victim to the hospital, where he died not long after. Authorities have not yet released his name to the public.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with police. Impairment is not suspected at this time.

A full investigation of the incident is underway.
