GLENDALE, AZ – Traffic came to crawl Friday morning along the freeway in Glendale after a livestock truck crash caused cattle to escape along the roadway, reports abc15 Arizona.
The crash happened on the southbound side of Loop 101 near Glendale Avenue, which is near the Glendale Sports and Entertainment District.
Police say the truck driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a barrier wall on the freeway. The collision created a hole in the side of the truck, and more than a dozen calves escaped onto the freeway.
The truck driver was unhurt in the wreck, and no other human injuries were reported. Two calves died as as result of their injuries.
Crews worked to clear the wreck and move the livestock to another location.
