News: Impairment suspected in Tempe collision that killed motorcyclist 

TEMPE, AZ – Impairment was suspected behind a deadly collision that claimed the life of a 20-year-old male motorcyclist on Saturday, Arizona Family said.

The collision happened around 10:30 p.m. off Baseline Road and Mill Avenue. Local police said the incident unfolded when a 23-year-old man, driving a Chevrolet Camaro, did not yield to oncoming traffic while exiting Kiwanis Park and collided with an eastbound motorcycle on Baseline Road.

EMS crews rushed the motorcyclist, later identified as 20-year-old Isaac Wielander, to a hospital where he later died.

Police arrested the Chevrolet driver, Martin Chavez, on suspicion of impairment.

Police booked Chavez into jail, who has since been released pending several charges.
