MARICOPA, AZ – Impairment was suspected in a vehicle versus train collision in Maricopa on Monday, Arizona Family said.
The collision happened before 11 p.m. in the area of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Anderson Road. Police believe a driver of a vehicle, who they suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, intentionally crashed into a train.
The impact of the crash left the driver with serious injuries. EMS crews rushed the motorist to a hospital for treatment.
It’s unclear whether anyone else was injured.
