News: Driver killed after colliding with Goodyear home

GOODYEAR, AZ – A 20-year-old woman died Saturday afternoon after she crashed her vehicle through a concrete wall and a house in central Maricopa County, reports Arizona’s Family 3TV.

Police say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near South 175th Drive and West Durango Street in the Sweetwater Estates neighborhood of Goodyear.

The investigation thus far suggests the driver was speeding at the time of the incident and that she may have wrecked her car on purpose. Volunteers and responders at the scene extricated the driver from her car after she crashed into the garage of the house.

Authorities identified the victim as Helen Guzman-Vasquez. She died after transport to a local hospital.

No other persons sustained injuries in the crash, which remains under investigation with law enforcement.
