News: DPS officer and 4 others hurt in 2-car crash on I-10

PHOENIX, AZ – Two children and three adults went to the hospital Saturday after a two-vehicle crash caused by an alleged DUI driver in Phoenix, reports abc15 Arizona.

The incident happened south of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport just before 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 10 near South 40th Street.

The investigation thus far indicates that an alleged intoxicated driver rear-ended an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper on I-10. The trooper was investigating a separate incident at the time of the crash.

The female driver of the vehicle that caused the crash went to the hospital with non-critical injuries. Officials suspect her of DUI and have taken her into custody.

Two children from the woman’s vehicle were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Medics transported a female passenger from the vehicle to the hospital with critical injuries.

The DPS officer appears to have suffered only minor injuries.

A full investigation of the collision is underway.
