News: Driver dies following 2-vehicle crash near Country Horizons

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – According to 12 News, a male driver died following a crash near northbound AZ 101 Loop and Mountain View Rd Sunday.

Travis Schilling, 21, was driving a pickup truck north on AZ 101 Loop when he rear-ended an SUV around 6:45 p.m. Schilling’s pickup truck then strayed off the road, went up an embankment, and crashed through a metal fence before falling 15 feet and landing on its roof in a dry canal.

The SUV went off-road with half the vehicle hanging over the canal.

Rescue crews pronounced Schilling dead at the scene and transported a passenger from the SUV to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
