News: Driver arrested for DUI following fatal crash near Park Meadows

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, authorities arrested a man for a fatal wreck near S 35th Ave and W Southern Ave on Saturday.

Fernando Rodriguez-Sanchez, 22, was driving an SUV when he passed stop traffic by driving in the bike lane. He ran a red light and hit a vehicle around 5:40 p.m.

The collision caused Henry Mandley, 44, to be ejected from the vehicle that was hit. Rescue crews transported Mandley to an area hospital, where he died the next day. Crews also took the woman who was driving the vehicle and two minors to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the collision, Rodriguez-Sanchez and his passenger fled the scene on foot. Officers located and detained them.

Authorities charged Rodriguez-Sanchez with DUI, aggravated assault, failure to stay at a fatal collision, and endangerment.
