News: Child dies following 10-vehicle wreck on US 60 near McClintock Manor

TEMPE, AZ – A child died following a ten-vehicle collision on US 60 near McClintock Dr on Monday, according to CBS 5.

A person driving an SUV was heading west on US 60 when they changed lanes and caused a collision that involved seven other vehicles around 8 a.m.

A pickup truck driver hauling a trailer then collided with the median and crossed over into the eastbound lanes before rolling over onto its side.

Emergency crews were directing traffic away from the pickup truck when the driver of an SUV slammed into an unoccupied DPS patrol SUV. The driver was injured. Authorities believe they were impaired.

Rescue crews transported two children to an area hospital, where one of them died. Several adults were also taken to the hospital.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
