News: Car driver ID’d in fatal rear-end crash with semi-truck in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – Officials have released the name of the car driver whose life was claimed in a rear-end crash involving a semi-truck in Phoenix on Monday.

This comes as an update in connection with our previous reporting. Police told the Arizona Family that the car driver was identified as 18-year-old Jamison Lamont Sanders.

Police suspect Sanders was speeding in the area of 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street when he lost control of his white Kia and crashed into the back of a semi-truck.

Sanders’ white car became trapped underneath the truck and subsequently died of his injuries.

The truck driver was uninjured and stayed at the scene, and spoke with the police.

Video footage showed Sanders’ significantly damaged white car and the truck blocking the intersection. Officers shut down the intersection to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process.

All lanes have reopened since.
