News: Man charged in deadly collision in Mesa 

MESA, AZ – A man is being charged with manslaughter in connection with a deadly collision that claimed the life of a 79-year-old woman last Friday, June 29.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Recker Road and East Main Street.Police told ABC15 that the man, identified as Caesar Miguel Zalava-Soso, had ran a red light and crashed his truck into the back of a car, driven by a 79-year-old woman.

The woman’s car was nearly cut in half, and the driver, later identified as Karen Kae, died from her injuries at the scene.

Mesa police said that over the past three months alone, they’ve issued over 100 citations and warnings for red light runners and other dangerous drivers.

Police urge the public to proceed with caution while driving, especially on major holidays, like the Fourth of July, and will continue to crack down on any red light runners.
