PHOENIX, AZ – Authorities have charged a 19-year-old woman for a deadly crash that occurred near N 56th St and E Pinnacle Peak Rd on July 5, according to AZFamily.
Madison Carey was driving erratically west on Pinnacle Peak Rd when she strayed off the road and into bushes and trees. She then returned onto the road and into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Toyota Corolla occupied by five people around 8:30 p.m. The wreck caused a fire.
Rescue crews transported Carey and all five occupants of the Toyota to the hospital, where Juliene Aumani, 53, died.
Authorities arrested Carey once she was released from the hospital. They charged her with one count of manslaughter and four counts of aggravated assault.
Carey is being held on a $1,000,000 cash bond.
