News: At least 1 in critically hurt in wrong-way crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – At least one person was left in critical condition as a result of a wrong-way crash that happened on Interstate 10 East on Friday.

AzFamily said the incident unfolded before 6:30 p.m. when a driver traveling west on eastbound Interstate 10 crashed into several vehicles.

Several people were injured, one of whom sustained critical injuries.

DPS started an investigation and believes the wrong-way driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Authorities shut down the eastbound lanes for the on-scene clean-up process and investigation before later reopening all lanes.
