PHOENIX, AZ – A driver who had allegedly tried to flee the scene after crashing into a Phoenix police officer was arrested Friday morning.
KTAR said the collision happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of South 20th Street and East Southern Avenue. Additional officers were summoned to the scene. After arriving, they set up a perimeter and were able to apprehend the hit-and-run suspect.
Officials confirmed that the officer was on-duty at the time of the crash and no injuries were sustained.
On a similar note, another collision involving a Phoenix police officer happened Thursday night. One driver was suspected of running a red light, which led to their death and seriously injured the other officer.
