News: Alleged DUI crash kills pedestrian in Central Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – An unidentified pedestrian died Monday night after a vehicle struck him on a busy roadway in uptown Phoenix, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.

Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Camelback Road and 7th Avenue, which is between I-17 and AZ-51 in central Phoenix.

The investigation thus far indicates that an alleged DUI driver hit the pedestrian on the westbound side of Camelback as the victim attempted to cross the street mid-block.

Medics transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where he died from injures sustained in the collision.

Authorities charged the driver with driving under the influence.

A full investigation is underway.
