News: 2-vehicle wrong-way crash kills 1, injures 1 in Peoria

PEORIA, AZ – An 18-year-old man died Tuesday night after making a U-turn on the freeway and colliding head-on with another driver in Peoria, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.

Police say the incident happened around 11 p.m. on Loop 101, or the Agua Fria Freeway, near Bell Road.

The investigation indicates that the southbound 18-year-old turned around in the middle of the freeway and headed the wrong direction. His vehicle then collided with a southbound SUV.

The 18-year-old died of his injuries after transport to a local hospital.

Medics transported the driver of the SUV to the hospital with critical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
