News: 2 dead after driver slams into semi-truck in northwest Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – Two people are dead after a driver plowed into the rear of a semi-truck at 33rd Ave and Grand Ave on Tuesday, according to AZFamily.

Authorities believe Aaron Soto, 28, was speeding on Grand Ave when he hit the back of a semi-truck turning left onto 33rd Ave around 7 a.m.

First responders pronounced Soto and his passenger, Angel Loera, 28, dead at the scene. They transported the semi-truck driver to an area hospital with minor injuries.

First responders closed down the area so detectives could investigate the incident. The area was reopened around 2:30 p.m.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the incident.
