News: 1 man dead following wrong-way crash involving garbage truck in northeast Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, a man died following a three-vehicle collision involving a garbage truck near E Cholla St and N 40th St on Monday.

John McLaughlin, 44, was driving a pickup truck north on 40th St when he strayed into the southbound lanes and ran a red light. Around 3:30 p.m., he collided with an SUV and a garbage truck, sending the SUV crashing into a nearby wall.

First responders pronounced McLaughline dead at the scene. Two other men and a child were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other men and a child were taken to the hospital but should survive, police said.
