News: 1 killed in semi crash on NB US-93 in Congress

CONGRESS, AZ – One person was killed in a head-on crash involving a semi and Jeep SUV on NB US-93 on Thursday morning.

AZ Family reports the fatal accident happened just west of State Route 71 around 6:40 a.m. The Jeep was traveling on NB US-93 when it traveled into the southbound lanes. Local authorities report the semi swerved to miss the Jeep but the Jeep still struck the semi’s trailer.

The Jeep driver was trapped inside his vehicle and died from his injuries. It is unclear if the person died at the crash scene or later at a hospital. The semi driver was not injured.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
