PEORIA, AZ – One driver was cited for causing a double bus crash that injured seven people on Friday, according to ABC 15.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. in the area of 83rd Avenue and Sweetwater Avenue. The driver who was cited was operating a school bus when they crashed into the back of another school bus.
Peoria police said one bus was transporting a group of 3rd grade students who were coming from a field trip.
Authorities confirmed that 90 students were on board the two buses. Out of the 90 students, five students and two adults were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
The force of the collision left significant front-end damage to a Valley Del Sol school bus.
Peoria police confirmed speed and intoxication were not contributing factors in the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
