News: Wrong-way driver fatally collides with another vehicle in west Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, a woman died following a wrong-way collision at North 43rd Avenue and West Purdue Avenue on Monday.

Charlene Quinones, 32, was heading south on North 43rd Avenue when a northbound driver crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with Quinones around 11:30 p.m.

Emergency crews extricated Quinones and a child from the vehicles. Paramedics transported Quinones to an area hospital, where she died.

First responders transported two children to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other children involved in the crash were not hurt in the collision.

Authorities believe the wrong-way driver was impaired. Authorities may file charges against her once the toxicology results come in.
