News: Vehicle vs. pedestrian crash injures 5 in Avondale

AVONDALE, AZ – Two adults and three children went to the hospital after a vehicle struck them at an intersection in Avondale Thursday night, reports Fox 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened sometime before 9:02 p.m. at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Dysart Road, which is just west of the Agua Fria River.

The investigation indicates that a family of 5, including two parents, an infant, and two small children in a stroller, were walking across Van Buren Street on the way home from the grocery store when a vehicle struck them in the roadway.

Medics transported all five people to the hospital with injuries. They are expected to recover.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Authorities closed the roadway soon after the crash to investigate and clear the scene. A full investigation is underway.
