NORTH PHOENIX, AZ – Phoenix police said it was a 55-year-old man who lost his life to a deadly motorcycle crash near Sandpiper Park on Friday, KTAR News reports.
The 55-year-old man was identified as Jeffrey Olivera. Preliminary details show that Olivera, operating a motorcycle, was going east on Thunderbird Road when he collided with a Jeep driven by a 33-year-old woman.
Police initially said the other vehicle was a pickup truck, but later confirmed it was a Jeep. Upon investigation, police learned that the Jeep driver was turning left from 64th Street onto Thunderbird Road when she crashed into Olivera.
EMS crews rushed Olivera to a hospital, where he later died.
Police and medics pulled up to the scene around 11:30 p.m. At this time, officers do not suspect that the Jeep motorist was impaired at the time of the crash.
No charges were reported.
