News: SUV crashes into pole, killing driver in West Phoenix 

WEST PHOENIX, AZ – A driver died after crashing his SUV into a metal pole and a center median on Thomas Road near I-17 on Monday.

The solo collision took place around 1 a.m. Phoenix police told AZ Family that they initially found the driver unconscious and in critical condition. On the scene, he died from his injuries.

Phoenix police did not release the man’s identity, only stating that he was 59 years old.

Officers and crews shut down Thomas Road from 27th Avenue to I-17 for several hours before reopening the area after 6:15 a.m.

Police are working to determine why the driver lost control of his SUV.
