News: Tucson pedestrian dies from from crash-related injuries

TUCSON, AZ – A 44-year-old man died at the hospital Tuesday from injuries sustained last Thursday when a vehicle struck him along a busy roadway, reports News 4 Tucson KVOA.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of North 1st Avenue and East Wetmore Drive, which is just south of the Rillito River.

Police say the pedestrian was struck while pushing a shopping cart across North 1st Avenue outside of a designated crosswalk.

Authorities identified the victim as Austin Dean Henderson.

The 62-year-old male driver remained at the scene to speak with police. They do not suspect impairment as a factor in the fatal collision.

The investigation continues.
