News: Truck vs. pedestrian crash kills 1 on Buckeye Rd

PHOENIX, AZ – A 35-year-old man died after a truck struck him along a busy roadway late Monday night in central Phoenix, reports Arizona’s Family 3TV.

Police say the incident happened just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of South 27th Avenue and West Buckeye Road, which is just west of I-17.

The investigation thus far indicates that the victim had been running on or near Buckeye Road when a truck hit him.

Medics transported the runner to the hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities identified him as Johnathan Martinez.

The truck driver remained at the scene to speak with police.

A full investigation is underway.
