TONOPAH, AZ – The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal chain-reaction crash that claimed the lives of four people and injured several others on I-10 near mile marker 88 on Saturday, according to AZFamily.
The incident, which occurred at around 1 p.m., involved six commercial vehicles, four passenger vehicles, a van, and an RV hauling a trailer. Several vehicles caught fire following the collision.
Four people died in the wreck. First responders transported three people to the hospital, where two remain in critical condition.
Five people were released from the scene after receiving treatment from crews.
At this time, local officials have not released the names of the decedents.
Troopers believe dust blowing at the time of the event may have been a factor.
